How to Make Custom Lotion Boxes

Making your own personalised Custom lotion boxes is a great way to customise the look of your gift, wedding favours or even just a fun way to give someone something special.

Start With A Plain Custom Lotion Boxes.

Start with a plain, white or cream-coloured lotion box. You can find these at craft stores, or you can make your own using plastic containers and a spray paint pen.

  • Spray paint the outside of your container with any colour you want (for example: red) and let it dry completely before putting in your lotion.

Trace Your Preferred Design Onto The Front Of Your Custom Lotion Boxes.

Trace your preferred design onto the front of your box.

Using a pencil or pen, make sure to trace around your chosen design in its entirety and centred on the box. If you have more than one image to go along with your lotion bar, then choose one as a template and trace over it before moving onto the next one (and so on).

Draw A Medium-sized Circle Around The Centre Of Your Design.

Draw a medium-sized circle around the centre of your design. Make sure it is not too small or too large, and make sure it is not too close to the edge of the box.

Paint In Your Designs And Details.

  • Use a paintbrush.
  • Use a stencil.
  • Don’t use too much paint.
  • Don’t forget to add details, such as leaves and small flowers in your design! You can also make this process easier by using pre-made stencils (like the one pictured above).

Cut A Piece Of Fabric To Fit Inside The Lid Of Your Box.

To begin, you will need to cut a piece of fabric to fit inside your box. You can do this by measuring the size of your lid with a ruler and then using a sharp knife to cut through it.

Once you’ve made sure that this is perfectly aligned and straight, glue gun an additional piece of fabric on top of it so that there are no gaps between the two pieces when they are folded together.

Glue The Fabric Into The Lid, Placing Glue On The Edges Of The Lid And Pressing The Fabric Down With Tweezers Or Tongs.

  • Use a hot glue gun. The best way to make sure your fabric stays glued down is by using a hot glue gun with an extra fine tip.
  • Don’t worry if your glue gets into the fabric during application, but do keep in mind that if you do accidentally get any on your skin or clothes it will feel like burning!

Finish By Adding Foam Adhesives To The Back Of Your Box And Sticking It To The Lid.

Once you’ve used your knife to cut out the design and fit it in place, it’s time to add foam adhesives. These are available at craft stores, or you can make your own using hot glue.

For this project, we recommend using a glue gun rather than hot glue because it allows for more precision and control over how much adhesive is applied—and less mess! We also found that hot-glueing our lids onto the Custom Lotion boxes gave us better results than spray adhesive (which tends to run off).
