Ronin and Inovit wheels roll into Malaysian market, catering towards performance and style

While manners maketh the man, wheels maketh the car, and in lieu of car owners here wanting to raise their automotive game to the next level, the local aftermarket rims scene has just grown with the introduction of 2 new, sophisticated brands that aim to do just that.

Ronin and Inovit are the new players in the aftermarket wheels scene. Brought in by Ronin Motorsport, the pair cater to a very distinct group of customers.

Both brands were launched today with the complete introductory range available in a multitude of colours and sizes.

The Ronin RFF-01

First up is the namesake of the distributor, Ronin Flow Form Wheels. Fittingly named after a wandering samurai who had no lord or master, the performance-oriented range comprises 2 designs in a 18×8.5 sizing with a PCD of 114.3 or 112.

The Ronin RFF-02

The RFF-01 is a multi-spoke design engineered for weight-saving and structural rigidity. It comes in 3 colours; Alumite Black, Dark Gun Metal and Matte Copper.

Creatively named the RFF-02, the other design is a mesh-style featuring machined cut-outs for weight-saving. It too comes in 3 shades; Black, Matte Gun Metal and Brushed Silver Aluminium.

Nonetheless, all shades are subject to availability given that limited sets are brought in.

As the name suggests, Ronin wheels are flow-formed. This means that the rim is forged at high pressure while being spun at high speeds. The process alters the molecular structure and enhances the strength of the alloy, meaning a much lighter wheel than the regular casting method. Ronin claims each wheel weighs a mere 8.4 kg.

Lighter wheels mean lower unsprung weight for the car and this fits perfectly with Ronin’s more performance orientation.

Did we mention the wheels are also TUV approved? Ronin wheels are designed in Malaysia but manufactured in Thailand.

All Ronin wheels are manufactured in Thailand but designed in Malaysia.

On the other hand, the Inovit range is targeted at the more cosmetic-oriented owner. Though headquartered in Europe, the design, engineering and manufacturing of Inovit wheels happens in California, USA.

Inovit wheels are made using the much simpler casting process. The range currently consists of 3 designs for 19-inch sizing and 7 designs for the larger 20-inch size, making them perfect for the likes of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire.

Initially, the range will only carry monoblock designs but the distributor will be adding multi-piece designs in the near future.

Ronin Motorsport has plans to penetrate a new regional market every year, starting with Japan and then shifting its focus to Indonesia. According to them, there’s a shortage of aftermarket wheels in Indonesia, so they’re hoping that’ll spur demand for their wheels across the Straits of Malacca.

Now onto the most important question, pricing. Ronin wheels are priced at RM 4,200 for a set. Being a little showier, Inovit designs are RM 6,200 for the 19-inch sizing and climbs to RM 7,500 for the 20-inch designs.

However, in conjunction with the launch, Ronin Motorsport is offering a RM 1,000 voucher with every set purchased until the end of the year.

Drop by their showroom at 7, Jalan Pendidik U1/31, Hicom-glenmarie Industrial Park, 40150 Shah Alam, Selangor, to check out the entire range of designs and colours.
