Jorhat Gymkhana Club is a sports venue that was formed by D Simone in the year 1876. There is space to play golf, cricket, polo, horse racing, billiards, and a lawn tennis court and swimming pool.
All these sports have been played since the inception of the club. There is also a gentlemen’s bar and a theatre.
Let us tell you that this golf course is the oldest course in Asia and the third oldest in the world and this club has 9 hole golf courses. CK Nayudu Under 19 Indian cricket is also played here every year.
Dhekiakhoba Bornamghar is a famous Namaghar located in the Jorhat district of Assam. This Naamghar was established by Madhavdeva in the year 1461.
This Namghar is one of the most sacred religious places of Jorhat. Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar is located at a distance of about 15 km from Jorhat and only 3.5 km from National Highway 37.
This Naamghar is spread over an area of 13 bighas, people come in large numbers to visit here and the number of tourists increases further in August-September.
Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary-
Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the state of Assam, the only such sanctuary in India where Hillock Gibbon is found, this is the only such Gibbon that is found in India.
This wildlife sanctuary is spread over an area of 21 km and many types of birds and animals live here.
This sanctuary was declared by the Government of Assam in 1997. It is a special tourist attraction of the Jorhat district and is located at a distance of about 19 km from Jorhat.
Other wildlife creatures found here include stump-tailed macaques, eastern Assamese macaques, capped langurs, tigers, jungle cats, wild boars, a variety of squirrels and civets, Indian elephants, and many other mammals.
Lachit Borphukan Maidam-
The city of Jorhat in Assam has many tourist attractions, one of which is the plain of Lachit Borphukan. This ground is dedicated to the Ahom general and in his memory, this magnificent Lachit Borphukan Maidam was built.
He fought very bravely in the battle of Saraghat to win back Guwahati from the Mughals. He was also known to have great leadership skills.
After a year of victory at Saraighat, Lachit Borphukan passed away due to some serious health issues. After his death, this Mahadev was built by Swargdev Udayaditya Singha in the year 1672.
The remains of this great warrior lie here and are still remembered and honored by the people of Assam.
This madam is located in Gohain village of Melling Hulunganpur and is situated at a distance of 8 km from Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary.
Jorhat tourist places Cinnomora Tea Garden-
The first tea garden in Jorhat is Cinnomora Tea Garden which is famous for tea only. The Cinnamon Tea Garden has been producing tea since 1850, this plantation was established by Mani Ram Diwan.
This plantation is situated at a distance of 10 km from Jorhat city. In this garden, you can take a walk by passing through small tea bushes.

Historical site Battle citadel-
Battle Garh is one of the most attractive tourist places in Jorhat. The battle citadel was built by Raja Pratap Singh to protect his city and to prevent the infiltration of enemies.
There is luck in this fort and all three are located in different directions, the names of its three parts are- my home, welcome home, and battle house.
But now it is in the form of ruins and still, this place is grand and visible.
This battle citadel is located at a distance of 13 km from Jorhat, and taxis are always available from here.

The best time to visit Jorhat is between November to March, meanwhile, Jorhat remains cold but pleasant and the best time is in early spring.
